Pictures from my walk ....

The other day my Mom took me for a walk. I was soooo excited because I love to go for walks and I don't think she takes me nearly enough.

This is how she likes me to walk ... she likes me to do a lit of walking.

This is how I like to walk .... a little walking and a lot of sniffing. This is where Spot tinkled, Spot is very tall.

This where Suzie tinkled. I think I met her once.

I met this little dog on my walk. You can't tell it from the picture but he was tied to a ground screw in his front yard. Ha! I never have to get tied to a ground screw ... well I did once at Hershey's house.... how embarrassing THAT was! The little dog wanted to play with me but I was too busy to play with him because I WAS ON A WALK! So I said so long and goodbye.

It was a nice walk, I can't wait to go again.

New computer ....

Sorry I did not post yesterday. My Dad bought my Mom a new computer yesterday and well it sucked up the whole evening and Mom really didn't pay me any attention. This new one is hard for me to use ....... but fast .... and it doesn't have any pictures on it for me to post. Here is a picture of a fish just so you have a picture to look at. My Dad told me he was tired of Mom and I complaining about her computer so he wanted to get her a new one. Mom is not complaining now.

I got to stay outside all day today while Mom went somewhere and I was a good boy and did not run away or dig under the fence or get stolen. Of course I did not do any of those things, because I love my Mom and would never think of running away! It was a pretty day and Mom told me she hated to coop me up in the kitchen by myself all day on such a pretty day. I took a nap on the wicker furniture and barked at the mailman and ate some grass. It was nice. I'll be back with pictures as soon as my Dad does his magic and transfers Mom's pictures.

While I am talking about computers, do you dogs use laptops or desktops? I prefer laptops because ....well, I like to sit in my Mom's lap.

Sleeping, sitting and eating .....

Today when I went to Roxie, Sammy and Andy's blog they had blogged about an Art Show in Houston, where they live. They even posted a beautiful painting by David Hockney of two brown dachshunds sleeping a blue bed. Well, I ran upstairs and got the book we have and showed it to Mom! We have a book about his paintings. Here it is!

It has pictures of dachshunds sleeping (a lot of sleeping because that is what we do best right?)

and sitting up (dachshunds are not supposed to do this, it is bad for our backs)

and eating ... (we do that really well too.)

This is David Hockney and his dogs. Aren't they cute?

Doggie Rules .....

I just read the rules on Roxie, Sammy and Andy's Mom posted on their blog and I want to post my own rules BEFORE my Mommy gets any ideas!

Copper's Rules

1. I get to eat at 5 pm, no later. I can tell when it is 5 pm by how dark it is. If it is a cloudy day, I get to eat earlier. If it is a weekday and you get home from work early, I get to eat early. If Daddy feeds me when he gets home and forgets to tell Mom I get to eat again and it is OK.

2. I like to sleep between you and Dad up beside the pillows. You get pillows, why shouldn't I? It is cold at the foot of the bed because the ceiling fan blows directly on me.

3. I am your shadow. If you lay on the couch, I lay on the couch. If you go outside, I go outside. If you go on the deck, I go on the deck. You can go in the bathroom by yourself, that's all.

4. Gas is down to $2.06 now. Hershey needs to come visit me more often.

5. I like to go for car rides. One a day is good. If you go get ice cream, I get to lick the bowl.

6. Walks ... I like slow, short, sniffy walks. Please do not try to walk for exercise, I have to smell things to know what is going on in my neighborhood.

7. I get a doggie cookie when I go outside in the morning. If I go out for Daddy and for Mommy, I get a cookie each time please.

8. If I stand in front of the pantry, it means I want one of my Lamb and Rice jerky treats. I love them and I have no other way to ask for them.

9. I get to lick ALL ice cream bowls, even Daddy's.

10. I can do the following tricks .... sit, lay down, roll over, and stay ... I do not want to learn to 'shake.' Stop trying to teach me that trick.

Dog friends, can you think of anymore rules we need to make?

I am worried about Hershey ....

Dog friends .... I am worried about Hershey. If you are new to my blog, Hershey is my bestest friend in the whole wide world. He moved to Virginia with his Mom and his Dad and his cat brother Nixon a while back. I miss him. The last I heard from him, he was being held captive by a nice family with a mean cat while his Mom went to Florida for a sad trip. I wonder if the man cat has hurt him and he can't blog? . . . . . Hershey if you are out there, please let us know you are OK and tell us about your adventures at the cat's house. Is this what he looked like?

Starbucks, Shots and the Drivethru ....

What a fun and busy day! I had a great day but I don't have any pictures to show you because my Mom forgot the camera! What a forgetful Mom I have!

First I got to go to Starbucks and sit in mom's lap outside while she talked to a friend. A nice lady came outside and gave me a Milkbone dog biscuit. I ate it to be nice. Why do they even make those things? ... They are so bla! Do you dogs like them? I don't.

Anyway then I went on a long car ride to see Miss Cindy. She works at a place that makes me very nervous. Are you dogs nervous at the Dr place? Boy, I am! I got shots and a poked and stick with needles but it is OK. I like Miss Cindy. I weighed 14.5 pounds and Miss Cindy says that is just right! Miss Cindy gave me some green liquid stuff to put in my water that will make my breath fresh and my teeth cleaner. It has enzymes in it she said. Mom mixed it in my water tonight and it tastes pretty good! I don't have bad breath so I don't see why I need it but I will take the extra attention.

Then we went on another long car ride home and went to a place where Mom got food while she was in her car. I got to smell the food but didn't get to eat any. It smelled yummy! When I got home, I was so tired I took a long nap.

What a day. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

Pretty pictures ....

My Mom likes to take pictures. She told me she took these pictures on her trip .. the trip where she did not take me! That's why I am not in the pictures.

Mom told me that I get to go on a car ride tomorrow. I get to go see Miss Cindy! She is my doggie doctor. I wonder what we are going for? I like Miss Cindy. Maybe it will be fun.

My favorite recipe .....

Tonight I want to share my favorite recipe.

Get a hollowed out bone. You can buy them at the pet store . Buy these treats. They are long soft jerky type sticks. They are really YUMMY!

Stuff the bone with the sticks. Depending on the hole in the bone, 2 or 3 sticks may fit in the bone. Wag your tail while Mommy is fixing it.

Eat and enjoy. Serves one.

What makes a true blue dog friend?

Hey, I have noticed my doggie friends are playing tag and I want to play. Freda asked me to play too. What makes a true blue dog friend? Well ..... how about ....

A true blue dog friend:

1. A true blue dog friend is my neighbor when she took care of me, feed me, let me outside and even snuggled with me on the couch while my Mommy was away at her Mom's funeral. Then she didn't expect anything in return.

2. A true blue dog friend is my neighbor when she had her teenage son mow my too tall tickly grass when my Mommy got back from the funeral.

3. A true blue dog friend is my Mommy when she took me to Petsmart tonight and to run errands because she knows I have been cooped up in the house for days. (I got a new Kong!)

4. A true blue dog friend are your blog friends who will come back and read your blog even after you have been gone for days.

5. A true blue dog friend is me when I snuggle next to my Mom all day and night because she is very sad.

That is a true blue dog friend.

They're BACK (with the evil suitcases)!

My Mom and Dad came back! Just when I thought I was never ever going to see my family again, they drove up in the car as I was relaxing on the front porch yesterday. I barked my "Oh my gosh, I am sooo glad to see you!" bark and ran around the yard like a crazy man. They brought the suitcases inside but Mom has not unpacked them and put them away yet, so I am still little nervous. I got to sleep in the big bed with them last night and since they were so very tired, no one moved me from my favorite spot - between them. Mom is home today and I am sticking really close beside her so she doesn't go anywhere, especially with the suitcases.

While Mom and Dad were gone, my friend Miss Cindy took care of me. She came in and fed me and let me outside and petted me and washed my bed. She let me stay outside in my yard on pretty days. But I had to sleep in the kitchen night and day and I was alone and bored except for the TV. (Ask me anything about Animal Planet's programming for the last few days and I can tell you the answer.) One day Hershey called me on the phone and told me he was being held captive by a mean cat. He told me his Mom had taken him over to the mean cat's house and had left him and the mean cat would not play with him. He was sure his Mom has abandoned him forever. I told him to quit whining and get over it and be thankful that at least he had people to stay with ... I was all alone! Too bad he lives so far away or we could have kept each other company.

I read a little of everyone's blogs while I was away and I have one thing to add to The Dachsies list of ways to try Mom's patience. I believe it will top everything you have tried, but I don't recommend it because it will get you in big trouble! This is what you do .... if your Mom gets out an evil suitcase and puts in on the bed and then goes and gets her brand new dress from the closet and lays it on the bed and tells you "This is what I will wear to the funeral Copper." and then she walks back to the closet to get more clothes .... jump up on the bed and pee on the new dress. If you really want to annoy her, try it. But if you hate getting scolded, don't try it. I got in huge trouble and had to go outside while she packed. It was not worth it and she just washed the dress. I was just trying to make it smell like us, it smelled like a store!

Salad Pizza ....

This is me just laying around doing nothing while my Mom and Dad are out .... leaving me home ALONE again. Humph! They went to Guiseppe's because it's my Mom's birthday and they didn't take me! Mom usually gets "Salad Pizza" there. She brought some home once and I saw it before she put it in the refrigerator ... wierd stuff ... looks like a pizza crust with red sauce on top, no cheese and then salad on top. Mom loves it! There is a cupcake on the counter ... but I can't reach it ... so I guess I'll go back to taking a nap. Yaaaawwwn! I miss Hershey.

Our adventures ...

Mom told me that today is Hershey's last day here. So instead of laying around the house sleeping we have been busy in the yard guarding the house and looking for adventures. Here is the story of our adventures..... sort of like Isabella's adventures ...only with pictures.

We were out in the yard taking a nap on the soft furniture because it was a pretty day. Suddenly a flock of evil dog eating birds came by. We know they were dog eating birds because we heard them talking about it. Because they could sense that Hershey has some recent experience in bird detection and extermination, they ran away quickly. We were happy that we did not have to hurt them.

Then, just as we had recoved from the bird attack, we heard a noise and smelled a smell we had never smelled before. We jumped into action and went to see what it was. It moved slowly up in the tree that hangs over my yard. We were afraid it would fall from the tree and move slowly into the house and hurt my Mom so we acted quickly. We BARKED and BARKED and BARKED at it. We scared it away in the nick of time. We are not even sure what it was but we are glad the threat is over.

Then we were outside smelling the flowers and we heard heavy footsteps. Hershey heard them first because he is closer to the ground. We looked up and saw these big animals with men on their backs! We barked and barked and barked and tried to scare them away but they kept on coming. One of the came right into the in the yard and we attached him. Hershey bit his toes and I bit his tail. There was alot of blood. Hershey broke a nail but we managed to scare him away. It was close but we did it!

What a day. Wait till we tell Hershey's Mom!

Nixon's boring adventure and the company...

Nixon got locked in the hall closet last night. Mom had some company last night and Hershey and I were BANISHED to the office. It was terribly mean of Mom to make us go to the office because there was FOOD involved with the company and we didn't get any. So, because we were in the office, we can't tell you anything about the company except that it has something to do with Paris ... as in Paris France. I am picking up that my Mom is going there soon. There is a suitcase on the bed in the guest room and that usualy means she is going somewhere. I'll keep you posted.

Back to Nixon's adventure ..... a bunch of ladies were over here last night eating yummy food and when they had to go home it was raining. So Mom opened the hall closet where the loud sucker machine lives and got out umbrellas and gave them to the ladies. This morning Daddy heard Nixon picking on the fluffy carpet and he went to tell him to stop and couldn't find him. Then he found him in the CLOSET! He had been in there all night! Poor Nixon. He is Ok now and has been taunting us with his presence ... he just walks by us to get us to chase him. He could easily run away or stay away from us, but he doesn't. We guess he is lonesome for his peepol.

The contraption of DEATH!!!

Can you guess what this is for? I will give you a hint. Mom doesn't need it with me because I am nice and sweet and will willingly let her do this to me. Hershey is always "uncooperative" (a wild man) and Mom used it on him. He looks nice now.

Hershey and I have help watching the house ....

Hershey brought a friend with him and she has been helping us guard the house. Her name is Pinky and she is a girl dachshund. Here she is watching out for squirrels on the hamburger squirrel place. She needs to be taller.

Then here she is watching out the front window.

And with Hershey and I at the front door.

Hershey's HERE!!!!!

Everydog, I am sorry I have not blogged for days. I would say it is because Hershey and I have been playing but.... that would not be the truth. The truth is an evil monster came and messed up my computer and my Daddy had to fix it. Something about a a wire less frozen mouse with a new battery. I don't understand it but ... it's fixed now.... I hope because I have alot to tell you about Hershey and our FUN so here goes! It started Wednesday night....

Mom, Dad and I were nestled all snug in our bed,
while visions of dog cookies danced in my head.
When out on the porch there arose such clatter,
that I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the door, I flew like a flash
and Mom opened the door because we don't have a sash.
When what to my sleepy dog eyes should appear
but a miniature doglet and no reindeer.

There was no more ryhming after that because we ran around like crazed maniacs saying hi to one another till our Moms made us STOP and seperate and go to seperate bedrooms and go back to sleep because it was the middle of the night! If they didn't want us to play, then why did they wake us up is what I say! Oh .. and Nixon came too and we chased him up the stairs where he has been hiding ever since.

Well, needless to say Hershey and I didn't get any sleep that night listening for each other. But we have had lots of play time and adventures since. Hershey's biggest adventure is he killed a real bird! Yeah, for real! Kinda, sorta!

Friday Hershey saw something on the other side of the fence and he barked and barked and barked until my Mom came to see what was the matter. It was a bird on the other side of the fence and Hershey could smell it. Mom laughed and reached over the fence and got it for Hershey. He grabbed it and ran away with it and killed it and chewed on it until it was really dead. Here is Hershey barking at the bird.

This is the bird.

Yep, that's right .. Hershey killed a feather. Don't anybody tell him because he thinks it was a real bird.
